123 Wynford Drive

A masterpiece arises amidst an endless sea of greenery.

Our Vision

Built in 1964, the Japanese Canadian Culture Centre at 123 Wynford Drive was world-famous architect Raymond Moriyama’s first major work in Toronto.

In a rare opportunity for reinvention, Moriyama is collaborating with Originate, Kirkor, ERA and Plant to reimagine this site as a residential masterpiece.

The world class design team will breathe new life into 123 Wynford Drive, while both maintaining and showcasing its cultural and natural heritage.

With the Eglinton LRT on the rapidly approaching horizon, residents in this mid-town Toronto neighbourhood are poised to connect with the city they love like never before. Just as the LRT connects this neighbourhood to the City, the Don River ravine network connects it to nature, allowing residents unprecedented ways to enjoy an active and balanced lifestyle.

Design

Exterior

As an endeavour of architectural preservation, the new development will skillfully incorporate existing portions of the original structure while dismantling and reinstating other key features. Given that the Japenese Canadian Cultural Centre (JCCC) was predominantly forged of precast concrete panels, the community’s two towers will forgo the standard all-glass exterior in pursuit of pre-cast cladding to offer continuity with the existing structure. The first ten stories will also pay homage to the JCCC through flared wrap-around balconies that resemble a traditional Japanese pagoda.

Interior

Suite interiors will be defined by smart, modern design and elevated features. Every detail will be carefully considered to maximize usable living space, placing an equal value on beauty and function.
